November 7, 2002
The meeting was called to order at 6:02 P.M. Members present
were Cyndie Lee, Jo Fryberger, Lance and Kristi Lind, out-going
member Ken Harris, Gary Segers, John Hecht, Deb Christian,
Ralph Jones, and new member Chuck Bommarito. Chuck was introduced
to the board. Minutes of the October meeting were read and
approved. John Hecht made his treasurer's report, noting
that BBS did well financially at the October membership
meeting, and that we had $2,853 in the bank. The board accepted
John's report.
The board recognized Jo Fryberger, Chuck Bommarito, and
Gary Segers as being elected to new three-year terms. The
board then re-organized itself, electing Ralph Jones as
president, Gary Segers as vice president, John Hecht as
treasurer, and Lance Lind as recording secretary.
Gary reported that new membership cards were being mailed
out, that BBS had approximately 300 members, and that he
would be e-mailing members with November and December expiration
dates.
The Blues Foundation is seeking support for 2003 as the
year of the blues. The BBS board voted to support fund-raising
by the foundation, pending more information on what the
Foundation intends to do with money raised. The board will
explore a detailed proposal for future consideration.
The board voted to re-imburse Ralph $30.00 for gratuities
presented to Blues Bouquet staff for their help with the
membership meeting in October. It was noted that party clean-up
needed to be complete before the late act at future events.
Ralph thanked all members who helped out by bringing food
and volunteering. He also thanked our musicians.
John said he would have an annual report for the January
meeting and noted that we need an audit of activities and
accounts.
The board voted to support the Blues Bouquet's Wednesday
non-smoking nights for four weeks at a cost of $50 per week.
Jo and Kristi mentioned that the Eagle Island Experience
would be moving to Idaho City next year. The board agreed
to be represented, pending cost involved.
Ralph talked about events, a calendar of those events,
and keeping the website current. He talked of things to
be considered, like the Blues Divas tape (recorded at the
October membership meeting), organizing the monthly jam
sessions, and getting a newsletter editor. John mentioned
candidates for the Memphis blues talent contest, and options
will be explored. Deb will speak on a ladie's blues club
in December. A board retreat was called for November 24
from 1 to 5 P.M. at the Blues Bouquet. The December jam
will be on the 15th, from 5 to 7:30 P.M.
The meeting was adjourned at 7:33 P.M.
