March 4, 2002
The meeting was called to order at 6:03 P.M. Board members
present were Jo Fryberger, Vanna Kay Donovan, Lance &
Kristi Lind, Ken Harris, Ralph Jones, and John Hecht. Minutes
of the February 18 meeting were approved as read. John Hecht
presented his treasurer's report, which was accepted by
the board.
Ken Harris reported that he was continuing negotiations
for an out-of-town headliner for the summer picnic. Talent
options were discussed, and Ken was authorized to nail things
down.
The board agreed there was little reason to meet twice-a-month,
now that picnic arrangements were all but settled.
Ralph said that Bob Crist was interested in having the
board mail to members a flyer announcing Bob's new CDs,
and the board agreed to the proposal in line with its mission
of supporting local musicians.
John Hecht was named chair of BBS involvement with the
April 20 Race to Robie Creek. (BBS brokers talent and rents
its stage.)
Earth Day events in Julia Davis Park are also scheduled
for April 20. BBS will set up a table for promotion.
The board agreed to provide assistance and volunteers for
a bicycle event Saturday, August 17. As a non-profit organization,
BBS will be recipient of a sponsor donation.
Ralph presented a number of ideas for increasing participation
in and attendance at the monthly jam sessions (Second Sundays,
5:00 P.M.). Securing a rhythm section, awarding door prizes
and other goodies. Some of the ideas will be experimented
with at the April session. John will get with webmaster
Justin to help get the word out.
The meeting adjourned at 7:20 P.M.
