February 3, 2003
President Ralph Jones called the meeting to order at 6:07
P.M. Other members present were Cyndie Lee, Lance and Kristi
Lind, John Hecht, Deb Christian, Chuck Bommarito, and Gary
Segers. Minutes of the January meeting were approved as
read. John Hecht presented a printed treasurer's report
adding that BBS had $2,129 in the bank. The board accepted
John's report.
Gary reported that BBS currently has between 300 and 315
members. He had approximately a dozen membership cards that
needed issuing. Gary said website e-mail would be forwarded
to him for response, that he would scan minutes for website
postings, and that he needed new digital photos from Ralph
to keep the website fresh.
Kristi suggested an entertainment idea for the July picnic:
Cyndie will explore the idea of Ladies Sing the Blues providing
music. Subject to further negotiation, the board adopted
the idea in principle. John mentioned new review requirements
the city has imposed on park reservations.
The board approved a complimentary one-year membership
for Gary and Peggy Beier in thanks for editing the newsletter.
The board decided it would not commit a board representative
to the Festival for Recovery blues project. BBS will set
up its table at the Blues Bouquet during the Gene Harris
Jazz Festival. Ralph is working on an "all-star"
opening act to Michelle Wilson. Many BBS volunteers will
be needed. Deb and Gary will solicit. The board decided
not to participate in Earth Day activities due to the conflict
with the Race to Robie Creek and the regularly schedule
jam session that weekend.
Ralph and John will edit the newsletter, and Cyndie will
do layout. The February 16 jam will be recorded. The board
will meet at the Blues Bouquet March 3.
The meeting was adjourned at 7:45 P.M.
